About Us
The Association of Women in Business Journalism is a New York-based organization for non-male journalists covering business and finance.
Not only are women a minority in US business journalism, making up just 45% of the beat, but we also cover heavily male-dominated industries. Women hold 10.4% of leadership positions at Fortune 500 companies. Only 15% of executives in the financial services sector are women. The list goes on.
Our excellence is found through the navigation of these male-centric spaces. It's hard work — and it's time we make space to uplift each other in that hard work, too.
The AWBJ is centered on community, mentorship, engagement, and support. We are a trans and non-gender conforming inclusive organization. Reporters and editors of all mediums in any location are welcome to join, though we are currently only holding in-person meetings in New York and London.
